Reflex Integration

Supporting your child’s physical and emotional foundations through expert reflex integration that helps build a more organized, confident, and regulated nervous system.

At Radiance Pediatric Therapy, we focus on the foundational building blocks of your child’s development. Reflex integration is a specialized part of our skilled occupational therapy services designed to support children who may be struggling with physical, emotional, or learning challenges due to retained primitive reflexes.

What is Reflex Integration?

Primitive reflexes are automatic movements that develop in the womb to help infants survive and grow. As a child matures, these movements should "integrate" and become part of more complex, voluntary motor skills. If these reflexes remain active, they can interfere with a child’s ability to stay regulated, move efficiently, and learn with ease.

Signs Your Child May Benefit

Our licensed clinicians bring advanced experience in identifying and addressing retained reflexes. Families often seek our support for:

  • Coordination and Balance: Difficulty with sports, clumsy movements, or poor spatial awareness.
  • Emotional Regulation: Frequent frustration, difficulty with transitions, or unexpected emotional outbursts.
  • Focus and Learning: Challenges with sitting still, poor posture at a desk, or difficulties with handwriting and reading.
  • Sensory Sensitivity: Over-responsiveness to noise, touch, or lights that impacts daily routines.

Our Playful, Child-Led Approach

We believe that the best way to help a child grow is through play. Our therapists use evidence-based techniques to help your child’s nervous system mature in a warm and welcoming environment. Whether in our Bentonville clinic or local preschools, we celebrate each child’s unique strengths while building the physical foundations they need for independence.
